Iulian Ambrosie - Musician

Hello, my name is Iulian Ambrosie, and music has been the rhythm of my life for as long as I can remember. I am a vocalist with a deep passion for sound, expression, and cultural dialogue through music. My journey began in my early years, but it took shape and structure at the School of Arts, where I studied within the music department. There, I dedicated myself to piano, organ, and vocal performance (Canto), building the foundation that would support a career spanning over two decades.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with wonderful musicians, performing on a wide range of stages, and continuously expanding my musical vocabulary. I consider myself versatile and open to many styles, which is why my repertoire includes everything from jazz and ambient music to Romanian folk, international traditional sounds, and acoustic folk. I’ve never been one to confine myself to a single genre—every melody, every rhythm, tells a story, and I like to explore them all.

Jazz, in particular, speaks to my creative side. It gives me the freedom to improvise and feel each performance in the moment. On the other hand, Romanian folk music connects me deeply with my roots—there’s something incredibly powerful about the way a doina or a hora can convey emotion. I also enjoy performing ambient and lounge-style music, especially in intimate settings where atmosphere and subtlety matter. I believe music should either move you or help you settle into yourself, and I always aim to do one or the other, if not both.

Beyond the stage, my love for the arts doesn’t stop at sound. I find great joy in painting, in letting color and form guide my expression when words or music fall short. Theater has also been an important part of my cultural journey—whether attending, supporting, or participating, I’ve always been drawn to the emotional honesty and transformation that happens in that space. Cultural activities of all kinds feed my inspiration and help me stay connected to the broader artistic community.

For me, being an artist is about more than performing. It’s about sharing, learning, and staying curious. I’ve had the honor of working with musicians from different generations and cultural backgrounds, and those experiences have taught me to listen—not just musically, but personally. Music is a language, yes, but it’s also a bridge, and I try to be a builder of those bridges every time I sing or play.

In every performance, I try to bring something authentic. Whether I’m performing at a formal concert, an art café, or a community gathering, I believe the connection with the audience is what makes the music truly come alive. I don’t see myself as the center of attention, but as a channel for the emotion and meaning that each piece carries.

When I’m not on stage or rehearsing, you’ll often find me enjoying quiet time with a sketchpad or attending a cultural event. Inspiration often comes from unexpected places—a painting, a line of poetry, a conversation at a gallery opening—and I treasure those moments just as much as applause after a performance.

I’m grateful for every opportunity I’ve had to grow as a musician and as a person through art. As I continue on this journey, I hope to keep discovering new ways to bring music and creativity into the world, to connect with others, and to celebrate the beauty of diverse artistic expressions.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I look forward to connecting with fellow artists, art lovers, and everyone who believes, like I do, that the arts have the power to uplift, unite, and transform.
